Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Frequently Asked Questions

How long and how many times a week is a typical session?

Psychotherapy sessions are usually 50 minutes. Most clients are seen once a week in the beginning, then, as time goes on, less frequently.

What can I expect in my first session?

In our first session we will discuss what brings you to therapy, and I will provide an honest assessment as to whether I can be of help to you. I will gather history from your childhood, and learn other important background information to provide context for your present situation. You will have an opportunity to ask me any questions about therapy, and get a sense of my approach to determine if we are a good fit.

How long will I be in counseling?

The length of time a client is in counseling depends on the nature of the problem and the goals of the therapy. Some clients have a very specific problem that can be resolved in a set course of counseling. For others, counseling is an on-going learning process and they choose to receive counseling for a longer period.

How much do you charge?

The fee for a 50 minute session is $150. Payment is due at the beginning of each session. Cash, checks and all major credit cards accepted.

Will my insurance pay for therapy?

I am contracted with a number of insurance plans. Please call with your insurance information handy and I will check to see if I accept your plan and what the benefits are.

Cancellation policy: If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment and you have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.
